The first chapters of Avatar episodes book 2 drops us into the action right away. We don’t even get a chance to take a breath! Aang, Katara and Sokka, and all of us at home, learn even more about the Avatar State and what it means to be the Avatar. The three friends are off to find Aang the teachers he needs. There’s no time to rest, not when there’s a world to save from the Fire Nation!
We also get to learn more about Prince Zuko and his Uncle Iroh. They become real people with their own troubles, not just enemies chasing the Avatar. With the Princess Azula after them, they’re forced to go undercover. They hide in the Earth Nation, hoping she won’t think to look for them there. This means they learn about the people they’ve been mistreating, up close and personal.
As part of their search for teachers, the three friends learn that the Earth Kingdom is in great danger. Only the Avatar The Last Airbender can possibly save them from the Fire Nation. He doesn’t hesitate to jump into the mix! Just like season one, Avatar Aang meets new friends and enemies every step of the way. He meets his earth-bending teacher at long last, and the group gains a fourth member in Toph. Not that she doesn’t bring troubles of her own too! But soon enough the four friends are travelling the world together in search of a way to stop the Fire Lord from destroying everything they love.
The second half of the Airbender episode book 2 takes us and the four friends towards Ba Sing Se, the last free Earth Nation city. Once they reach the city itself, their adventures don’t stop! They learn that there’s more going on than anyone outside the king’s palace ever imagined. Even after they convince the King to take steps, they aren’t safe. Not with Princess Azula and her friends working to capture the Avatar and take the city all at once.
At the end of the season, we finally see Prince Zuko make a choice between doing what’s right, and doing what his father has always told him to do. Avatar Aang learns even more about himself and his powers than before, and has to put that knowledge to the test: he has to save the city. And Princess Azula, always a danger, finally comes into her own. She’s in it to win it, and it’ll take everyone working together to stop her from turning the Earth Nation into ruins.
Where the first book was about Aang learning the basics, the second book is about him getting used to what those powers can do. He and his friends finally realize that they aren’t just pawns. They can succeed, if they stand together. That doesn’t mean it’ll be easy for them, but nothing worth doing is easy!
