Just like the other Avatar The Last Airbender seasons, there’s not a moment to wait before we’re diving right into the action. We rejoin the Avatar and his friends in the grip of the Fire Nation. Not that they stay there for long! Soon enough, Aang is off to explore the world with Katara, Sokka, Toph and the Water Tribesman, Hakoda. For once, it looks like Aang might get a chance to relax a little before he starts the biggest step ahead: taking out the Fire Lord.

Both the Fire Nation and the Fire Lord’s family are a big part of Avatar episodes book 3. Several Airbender episodes follow them just as much as the Avatar. Prince Zuko continues to struggle with his choices between doing what he knows is right, and doing what he’s told. All the while, his sister Princess Azula is there to make fun of him and tease him into doing what she wants. She’s the most like their father, and it shows.

All this time, Aang and his friends have thought the Fire Nation an evil place. In this Airbender season, they learn that it’s a place full of people just like everywhere else. Some of those people are cruel and mean, and some of them are kind and compassionate. In his efforts to learn more about fire-bending, because the Avatar has to know all four of the elements, Aang realizes that the Fire Nation needs peace too.

They also find out that Fire Lord Ozai has a plan to take over the world on the day of the eclipse. When he can gather the power of the sun with his fire-bending, no one will be able to stop him! With the help of all the friends he’s gathered all over the world and in the Four Great Nations during his travels, Avatar Aang gathers an army. They’ll stop the Fire Lord together.

Slowly but surely, the army starts to work its way towards the Fire Nation capital. Aang and his friends take a more direct route: they head there on Appa. They’re going to stop the Fire Lord while the armies keep each other busy. Of course, it isn’t nearly as easy as it sounds, not when Ozai has been waiting for this moment and the fight with the Avatar for a long time. He’s ready for them, and he’s already very powerful.

It all comes to a head when Sozin’s Comet crosses the sky. Here’s the power the Fire Lord has dreamed about for a hundred years. All of the long battles and struggles finally reach their peak as Aang Avatar and the Fire Lord face each other. Prince Zuko makes his final decision about who he stands with, and a war that started a century ago finally has a winner.

With this amazing conclusion to the three-season story of the Avatar, we finally see Aang come into his own. He knows his strengths, he knows he can trust his friends at his back, and he’s ready to put an end to the trouble that’s been bothering the world for so long. Like before, he has moments where he hesitates. Who wouldn’t! it’s a big responsibility! But in the end, he picks himself up and he refuses to give up. He has a destiny, and he’s going to see it through.
